Greetings and Welcome to the official website of Gamma Iota Lambda Chapter (GIL), the 175th house of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated -- affectionately known as the “Brooklyn-Long Island Alphas.” It is an honor and a privilege to serve as Chapter President for the 2019 - 2020 fraternal year. Gamma Iota Lambda consists of over 40 professional and dedicated Brothers who are committed to service and the aims of our dear fraternity: “Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind.”

We work with great effort to be positive role models in the development of our young African-American males. Their success is paramount in today’s society.  Through two of our national programs, Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College and Project Alpha, we have been working with young men from Brooklyn in our Alpha Academy to prepare them to become our future leaders.

The Brothers of Gamma Iota Lambda also strive to improve the lives of the residents of Brooklyn and Long Island through a variety of community service activities.  At our annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Event we distribute hot meals, toiletry bags, and gently used clothing to the men residing at the Atlantic Men’s Shelter. We provide toys to Children of Promise during the holiday season. We also collaborate with the Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Rho Omega Chapter in hosting a community discussion on Gastrointestinal Cancer.

We participate in, and raise funds for the March for Babies, March of Dimes Walk as well as the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

As we approach our 75th year of service, we hope to build on our current partnerships and collaborations. In the coming year Gamma Iota Lambda will continue to focus on health and wellness issues that plague our communities. We will also strive to be a presence in promoting issues surrounding social reform.

If any Brother of Alpha Phi Alpha, or a member of the general public, would like to volunteer their services to our national programs or community service projects please feel free to contact the chapter, we welcome your assistance.

On behalf of the Brothers of Gamma Iota Lambda, I extend an open-invitation to all Brothers of our dear fraternity to attend our monthly chapter meeting. GIL meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month at 2:00 p.m. (September through June) at Interfaith Hospital, located at 1545 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11213.
